Busch USA | History
In the beginning

Busch USA was founded in Virginia Beach, VA in 1975, starting in a 5,000 square foot facility with three employees. The Virginia Beach area was selected for its proximity to a major port city (Norfolk), and because the area boasted an experienced, stable work force.

At the start, all pumps supplied to the US market were manufactured at our plant in Maulburg, Germany, then shipped to Virginia Beach for sale and distribution. The Virginia Beach facility provided sales and service support for our customers either directly or through a small network of authorized representatives and distributors.

Growth and development

Groundbreaking 1983

By the early 80's, the demand for our pumps had grown significantly. In keeping with their globalization strategy, Dr. and Mrs. Busch made the decision to invest in the construction of a new, modern facility — one that would be the US headquarters for sales and service, as well as for pump manufacturing.

The new facility opened its doors in 1984 with 53,000 square feet of manufacturing, assembly and office space, and 55 employees. Busch USA was now a U.S. manufacturer, producing our R 5 series vacuum pumps for the North American market, in sizes to 25 HP.

Additional expansions for manufacturing and office space followed in 1990 and in 2002 bringing the current total combined space to 204,000 square feet.

Regional Sales Offices

Today, to better serve our customers needs, we have enhanced our local efforts with Regional Centers located across the USA. Each of our facilities provide a wide range of local support, repair and technical services, in addition to maintaining an on-site inventory of Busch products.

For sales and application support, regional offices are located across the country. Our highly qualified sales team provides local, expert sales and technical assistance for all of our customers' vacuum needs.

To keep pace with the ever-growing demand for both our traditional and new products, our manufacturing capacity has also expanded. In addition to our industry-leading R 5 rotary vane pumps, we now manufacture our Mink rotary claw and Dolphin liquid ring pumps, as well as assemble our COBRA rotary screw pumps; all at our Virginia Beach location.
